Father Luciano Felloni was laid to rest on Monday, February 10, in Quezon City, as mourners honored his unwavering dedication to the Church, social justice, and pastoral ministry.

The funeral Mass, held at San Bartolome Parish de Novaliches, was presided over by Bishop Roberto Gaa of Novaliches, who praised the Argentine priest’s deep commitment to his vocation.

“He was the kind of person who was very spirited. He never entered any endeavor half-heartedly,” Gaa said in his homily. “Whether it’s social action, parish work, or social communication… he fully committed to it.”

A Life of Service

Felloni passed away on February 2 at the age of 51 due to complications from skin cancer. Despite his illness, he remained actively engaged in his ministry, serving as the parish priest of Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy Parish in Quezon City’s Mapayapa village and as the director of the diocese’s social communications ministry.

From 2011 to 2019, he also served as executive director of Caritas Novaliches and as coordinator of the diocese’s Social Service Development Ministry from 2013 to 2019.

Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, president of Caritas Philippines, described Felloni as a priest who embodied true Christian service, particularly in his commitment to justice for the marginalized and victims of violence.

Carrying on His Legacy

During the homily, Bishop Gaa urged the faithful to continue the mission that Felloni started.

“May what he started be continued… perhaps in a different manner, but with the same passion, the same intimacy, and the same spirited engagement that we received from Father Luciano,” he said.

“He is now passing on that legacy to us. Let us not let this love and service end with him. I hope we can continue this. If we can’t do it alone, like Father Luciano did, let us seek out others and work together,” Gaa added.

Following the funeral Mass, Felloni’s remains were interred at the Clergy Plot of Manila Memorial Park Holy Cross in Novaliches.

His memory lives on in the many lives he touched and in the ongoing mission of the Church to serve with love, justice, and faith.
