Despite this, he remains in good spirits. The Pope was hospitalized on Friday for bronchitis, and further tests, including chest X-rays and CT scans, have shown a “polymicrobial infection” in the context of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis. This has required both corticosteroids and antibiotics, complicating treatment. The Vatican urges continued prayers for the Pope’s recovery.
