The Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS) brought light and hope to families torn apart by incarceration through its heartfelt initiative, OPLAN Dalaw. As part of the Socio-Pastoral Program, this event aimed to reconnect Children in Conflict with the Law (CICLs) with their loved ones. The atmosphere was filled with deep emotions as years of separation dissolved in warm embraces and tearful reunions.
Poignant Reunions Bring Joy and Healing
One remarkable story was that of Wenry, a young CICL who had not seen his father, Tatay Reynaldo, for two decades. Tatay Reynaldo expressed his heartfelt gratitude:
“Matagal ko siyang hinanap… Binigay kayo ng Panginoon na tulay para magkita kami muli ng anak ko.”
For Reynato, another CICL, seeing his child for the first time in ten years was an overwhelming experience. He shared,
“Hindi ko napigilan yung saya ko kanina nang makita ko sila. Bumuhos na lang ang mga luha ko sa tuwa.”
Similarly, John Rey, who had endured 11 years in prison and five years without visitors, called the reunion his “pinakamagandang pasko.” He recalled,
“Nang makita ko sila kanina, hindi ko maintindihan yung nararamdaman ko. Masaya ako at naiiyak.”
Renewed Hope for Reformation and Reintegration
These heartfelt reunions echo a shared desire among families: for their loved ones to stay healthy, make positive changes, and return home soon.
The success of OPLAN Dalaw was made possible through the collective efforts of donors, volunteers, and BuCor personnel. Their unwavering support has not only rekindled hope in the hearts of CICLs but also strengthened their resolve toward reformation and reintegration into society.
